Where and how do I begin...First off, let me clear the air, if you haven’t noticed...I’m not a fuking writer (lol)...nor will I try to psych anyone out , by laying claims that I am some creative know it all - who went to some fancy smancy college...thinking my shiot don’t stink... I am just a regular chick that graduated high school- then went on to a glorified high school aptly named Valencia Community College...the reason I am saying all this - well - trying to tackle a movie critique type of diddy, ain’t my bag...I'll tell ya how much I don't wanna do this -I'd would rather blow my toe off...well, maybe nothing that drastic - the question remains...How bad can I screw this up....I can’t tell ya much about Domino....cuz, I wouldn't want to screw it for everyone - I'm gonna give it my best shot - so, let me get started -
The screening of Domino took place at City Walk at Universal Studios. I hate Universal..I spent 4 years working on the Preferred Desk...my job : booking celebrities and corporate types..sounds like a fun job , booking film stars & musical icons...guess again. ..just thinking bout that place gets me all revved up....Ack! you can imagine my dismay - upon learning I would have to go check out Domino at the Loew’s 20 Plex. So, It takes me an hour to get there...by the way..they charge $10 to park....so, the movie wasn’t free...but I didn’t mind...I kept chanting..I am going to see Domino...I am going to see Domino...I parked at Cat In The Hat, and my long trek to the theater begins...the best way to describe the last ½ mile is to say...Slap me and call me biotch....that would be a lot quicker then going through the 2 security checks points before entering the film....the first security guy asks...where are you going? I reply ...I am going to a special screening of Domino at the theater. Oh...Ok ..what do you have in your purse?...by this time...I am just pissed off... I say have a look , sir....you won’t find anything more dangerous then a pen , paper, gum and a loaded tampon. He looks at me and says ...no need to be that way...and proceeds to stick his lil blue stick in my purse, pilfering for whatever contraband I might be trying to stash...while dancing to What’s New Pussycat by Tom Jones...I should explain that music plays while making your pilgrimage to the parks or to City Walk..it's suppose to make you forget that you have to walk 10 miles before you get to your destination...anywho, Once I pass security check point # 1 ...I finally get to the theater - I flash my ticket...then I am told to go to the lobby...well, this is a big place...so I ask the theater guy - where am I heading to see Domino..he looks at me like he has a stick up his ass and says...are you sure ..you are at the right the place... the only private screening’s I am aware of is - History of Violence and Serenity....I am like - yea, you need to add Domino...cuz, .the ticket taker chick waived me on through and said to head to the lobby..He lets out a exasperated breath - great - it’s wonderful how they let me know these things.. I am going to have to check this out...he then says - the lobby is ahead.- go have a seat..there are mixed & frozen drinks available....so I have a seat and proceeded to oogle the beer...wishing to all hell...Sista didn’t live so far away...she could have been my designated driver...hmmm, maybe not....she would have seen her beer of choice Guinness - hear me now...it would have been over ..our hoochie mama asses would have both been thrown into the DUI clink tank... I know this is long..but hold your horse’s ....I’ll be telling ya about Domino soon enough....hang in tight......I went through a lot of SHIOT to see this movie...Ok, I’m now standing in line for Domino...We were suppose to be able to take our seats at 6:15 pm...cuz, the movie started at 7pm....Nope, our asses were still standing in line at 6:45 pm...finally, the line moves...I am so close to the door - I can touch it... alas, once again, I am stopped for security check # 2 ...not only do I get the stick in the purse routine - then Mr. Security Man moves a wand thingy - across my body....WTF - is next I think to myself...I spoke to soon...flippin pictures...you gotta be kidding - flashes are going off everywhere....Mr Man ...lets me through - yet , he doesn’t fail to tell me....remember to turn off your phone....no smart ass remark this time....I say no problem and move along...Finally, after all the BS....I find a place to park it and I am one happy camper....its 7pm ....DOMINO TIME!!!! WRONG!!! ....one of the guys in charge strolls up to the front of the theater and shouts....Glamour Magazine welcomes you to the private screening of Domino with Mickey Rourke..(lol)... but first, there is a 10 - 14 minute film by Trudie Skyler - for those who don’t know ..Sting’s wife - the lil feature is called Reel Moments - based on a true story....about some kind of love thing...which makes me wanna puke...cuz, I don’t believe in all that romantic nonsense...IT’S ALL LIES!!! lmao.....this is where I start thinking ...am I stuck in purgatory -cuz, it damn sure feels like I am getting nowhere and doing time for something I am not quite sure of......all this drama just to see Domino.....was it worth it.....Oh is was and then some.....I would do it all over again...just to see this flick...
The story is loosely based on the life of Domino Harvey, the daughter of the late actor Laurence Harvey & model Paulene Stone and in my opinion her inability to fit into her 90210 lifestyle....growing up Domino was more interested in playing with weapons - than dolls..she is portrayed as a rebel...someone you just didn’t fuk with...she didn’t seem to fear anything and liked the taste of danger. Domino tried strutting her goods on the catwalk, for the world - famous Ford modeling agency, however, that gig didn't work out..so somewhere down the line - she decided to became a bounty hunter...and landed a job at Celes King Bail Bond Agency..this is when she become's part of a family - something she didn't feel she had growing up ...or at least that is what is conveyed in the film.
What’s real and what’s fiction...I couldn’t tell ya...all I can do is give my interpretation of the what the film allows you to believe...I would say the childhood stuff - boarding school, how she didn’t seem to care to much for Beverly Hills , but yet couldn’t completely escape it....Domino did use the motto - Head’s you win - Tails you die....she was hired as a bounty hunter, because there were places that she could get into - that the guys couldn’t. - those details make sense. as for the rest....personally, I was so engrossed with the movie.....the part about it being loosely based on Domino’s life - whether fact or fiction didn’t play a role for me. Tony Scott delivered his brand of fast-paced adventure - off the wall humor & edgy visuals...There was a good dose of gun battles - doors getting kicked open - explosions . The screen play by Richard Kelly was tight hence he followed all the above mentioned requirements of a Tony Scott film..the only way I can gage that the movie worked was - audience reaction - there was laughter when shiot was getting to hard core - you know...the dialogue that is suppose to lighten up the film - - cuz, the story is getting so intense - that blacktino scene will make ya - bust a gut... I could hear plenty of - ahhh damn’s - that was bad ass or gasp’s when someone got their ass shot up....
As for the casting of Keira Knightley as Domino...Scott was right on target. Lately, I have read plenty of negative BS about her lack of talent and there was no way she could play a tough , nun chucks twirling - gun toting bad ass chick...because she isn’t that great of an actress...I wanna say to the trolls that made those comments -you must be tweaking on Tina... this chick can act...Let me add ...I am not impressed in the least - with the lame skanky young actresses that Hollywood has been trying to sell. Keira effortlessly has you believing she is Domino - isn’t that what being an actress is all about...this is a chick with talent ....now - go blow yourselves
As for the other actors - they only further enhanced the dynamics of the film....What can you say about Chris Walken, .he didn’t have a large role but, he makes the most it...he is quirky , funny and always on - in fact, there wasn’t enough of him... I received an inquiry from a fan this morning - asking if Mickey was in any scenes with Walken ( homeboy / Man on Fire) or Bisset ( Wild Orchid) - both former co-stars . Yes, in fact - all three were in a scene...that’s the most you’ll get out of me...on a final note...all the actors worked as a well oiled machine...meaning nothing felt forced or out of synch - even the 90210 guys played well with the others....those dudes were a hoot....
WTF - did you really think I forgot about the man himself....all I can say is...he was Mickey Rourke... and you should know what I mean.....watching him act is like “butter” lol!! This role was a breeze for Mickey...It has always been difficult for me to explain “why “ he is such a great actor..he has the ability to make you forgot he is acting - until the movie is over ...then you say to yourself...I have just watched greatness...now my ass ain’t some corny hick.....but no other actor has flipped my switch since Steve McQueen and that is who he is reminds me when I watch him on the big screen and as far as I am concerned that isn’t such a bad comparison.. There is no doubt Mickey is a man among men. He has his own signature style, look and feel which was compounded in Sin City and made abundantly clear in his role as Ed in Domino - the boss, father figure and mentor to Domino - Mickey is once again - raising the bar for aspiring actors and veterans a like. Putting to rest all those rumors and whisperings of being a has been, or that his time for greatness has passed. Rourke is back and in your face whether you like it or not.
There you have - the only sad part is - Domino Harvey isn't around to see the final product or walk down the red carpet on the night of the premiere - to bask in the glory of a movie that is loosely based on her extraordinary life..I found this quote from director Tony Scott - " Domino never failed to surprise or inspire me in 12 years." I think that says plenty about this woman. After all, she was a human being , flawed like the rest of us, a risk taker and somone who was loved. She may have made some poor choices in her life - but who hasn't - it just sucks that one of those choices took her life...
My bed is calling my name but I have to address one more topic...Ms Chicklet - you know who you are - as to your question - is goddamn Mickey's favorite word - cuz, he says it plenty of times in movies and do I think he will say it in Domino.....
My answer to you is : I don't know Mickey's nasty word of choice (lol)...but he does say GD in Domino along with a few other blow your hair back nasty words.... I hope this takes care of your question -. I bid you all a good-night...or rather good morning......ciao

Nice review, thanks. I myself cannot wait.
Thanks for the compliment...
Oct. 14 isn't to far away - but I know what you mean about waiting. I was lucky to nab a ticket to the private screening of Domino, however, I do remember the anticipation of Sin City...ciao
