There's Next Year.....

Mickey lost to Sean Penn...  Yes, it SUX!! Big Time!!!  However, Sean did mention Mickey at the end of his speech.. And Mickey was gracious!!!

LaShane has photos of Mickey's arrival at the Oscars

I'm being asked my personal opinion about Sean Penn's win - When Heather returns  from Los Angeles  - I'll post something on my blog The Flip Side.

I am so angry I cannot see straight. Mickey was robbed blind, and although I know Penn is his friend, it is ridiculous that Penn won. My hubbie is industry in LA, and we received screeners of Penn's perfomance, and it was awful in comparison to some of his work, simply awful. He was unconvincing in that movie. What Penn said is correct, "Commie loving, homo loving" audience voted for a film that most people will never see, most people can never relate too, and due to the intense homosexual agenda in Hollyweird, they did vote for an inferior performance. Mickey Rourke won that Oscar as far as I am concerned, it seemed as everyone except the Academy knew who the best actor was. He won it hands down, and I personally, in order to feel better will go to Amazon.com and buy every movie has been in just to make myself feel better. The political agenda should have nothing to do with art and acting, but unfortunately, as my hubbie said, he told me before the Oscars, "Rourke gave the best performance, but Penn will win, because of the subject matter of the role." What a shame, but Mickey, keep on, and they will not be able to ignore you next, year. Keep the faith, and you are in my prayers. God bless you!!!

I am so sad--Mickey should have won that award--I know Sean is a great actor but this win was purely political--anything that's gay wins--he even had to mention Mickey's name because he knew it rightfully belonged to Mickey-I'm also very sad for the passing of Loki--I too lost my 18yr old JRT last August and know what M's going through--and for having to be out and about 1 week later is awful

I too was rooting for Mickey and disappointed he didn't win :( Come on...Sean won the award not long ago for Mystic River so...I think it should've been Mickey's turn. I've just recently gotten into Mickey's earlier work because The Wrestler trailer and movie moved me SO much and just...he just has this versatility that many actors DO NOT have. Oh well...Mickey...keep on being yourself, you're such an honest, raw person which is extremely rare in the entertainment industry.

I too am disappointed, as I have never liked Sean Penn; he's never been an insider in the Hollywood scene. He's mainly famous because of his relationship with Madonna. I consider him way below all of the other gentlemen in the leading actor category tonight as far as acting ability. However, to be fair, there are people who admired Penn in that role & some had predicted he would win. The odd thing is that Hollywood is so hypocritical -- they had a chance to cast a gay actor in the part and didn't. Instead, they chose a straight actor who then had to "act" gay. So when the writer of Milk was telling everybody at the Spirit Awards show about how he hopes things will now change, I guess he didn't see the hypocracy of his own production team. If they have really wanted to make a statement, they would have cast a gay actor in the part. Yes, I think Rourke got robbed of his Oscar. But that's the way it goes at Oscar time. Sometimes, the voting seems impossible to understand. But this has to rank as one of the oddest. How can you understand the exclusion of Dark Night from best picture? Never in a million years would I select Slumdog as best picture over Dark Night.

Just having watched the Independent Spirit Award, I realize that Hollyweird is scared of him in more ways than one, not only was the Oscar mere a gay political agenda win, (and no I am not homophobic, I just know this town), but they are scared of his honesty, and his realness. I mean can you imagine his Oscar speech?? Oh, well, next year Mickey, next year. They robbed you and they and Penn have to live with it. (BTW, he was so unconvincing in that film, and incredibly clumsy in the gay love scenes, Ledger should have won for Brokeback Mountain, but they didn't want him to have it either. The poor guy has to die to get one.)
